I have just spent a very relaxing two days in Pusan, Korea with my girlfriend Ran, It was great to get away from el bonko land for a bit and take some r and r in. Its always interesting comparing the Koreans and the Japs because they are so different in many ways. Korea is very endearingly conservative in a way that Japan was more like thirty or fourty years ago. People are much more up front than the Japs that made ran at first think they were scary but she soon came to warm very much to them. Personally in a kind of wierd way I actually felt more at ease with this confrontation and lack of overly smiley faces that my cynical face just cant compete with in Kumamoto!

I realised also that im working too much and dont give myself enough free time. Being freelance the onus is on me to find work and i invariably accept too much, I need to scale down a bit.

Have just read the excellent new biography of Mao Tse Tung by Jung Chang anyone who wants to know more about China should read it.

I cant wait to come back to Blighty, roll on September!
